Eva

Strong. Confident. Empathetic. Full of life.

On February 26, 2007, her world changed: cancer! In her pelvic bone, to be precise. Surgery. Therapy. Give up? Not an option. So she tackled the issue head-on. Survive. Get healthy. Fuck you, fucking cancer!

Twelve years later, what has happened? The cancer has been defeated. For good. What remains is a changed body. And scars. Large scars. On her body, on her skin, in her life.

But what does that mean? Scars are always hidden, but why? Are they unattractive? Even ugly? That's probably in the eye of the beholder.

But scars are a symbol of something much more valuable: life experience. The confidence to overcome difficult phases in life. Scars show that a person has gained more experience and learned more than if the difficult phases had not existed. Scars show an unconditional will to live and strength.

The individual has gained more than if those phases of life had not existed. Scars and fractures give life values that are not apparent at first glance. These values are intangible. Unique and individual. That is why scars must be gilded.

That is the philosophy of Kintsugi.
